What Is Forrest Yoga

What Is Forrest Yoga

Namaste reader, so the internet decided to land you here on this page or you stumbled upon it just by chance, nevertheless, you are here and you want to know what is Forrest yoga and can you practice it? Well fear not Antonio is here to help you with all your questions, So let's get to it
Forrest yoga is a new form of yoga developed by Anna T. Forrest in 1982. She created a form of yoga that can be just as intense and demanding as ashtanga and at the same time can be learned easily.
Forrest yoga consists of holding a yoga pose for a longer period of time continuously and it emphasizes building up abdominal core work, which means your tummy is gonna be aching pretty hard after the first time you attempt it.
Forrest yoga is known for its intensity and its style that emphasizes connecting with your feelings to endure and work through your physical or emotional trauma.
In other words, Forrest yoga is all about using your feelings and increasing your physical ability. Now you must be thinking “Hey that’s Ashtanga” and you will be correct and wrong both at the same time, How? you may ask well ashtanga focuses on holding a pose for a longer period of time to get your body molded in a way that when the next time you perform a certain pose you will be able to do it very easily and correctly but on the other hand the Forrest yoga is all about holding the pose for a longer period of time and yes these are your regular yoga poses with a little bit more intensity.
Now you must be thinking “Can I Learn Forrest Yoga” or “Should I lean Forrest Yoga”. What I think, and it's just my personal opinion that one must learn the basics first in order to learn the advanced forms. Why? Because if you do not know what yoga is or what a pose is helpful with and why you should do it, It's better to stay away from advance training.
Every yogi must learn the basics first to know the true essence of yoga. In the present world, people have developed a ton of different Yoga forms like Dog YogaGoat Yoga and so forth and so on but the basics are the same, although I would not recommend dog or goat yoga, I mean what is the point of all that shit!!
Forrest yoga is a beautiful thing for those who already know the basics but it can be a little overwhelming for the first-timers. “So what do I do now” is the questions that popped in your head after reading all this and Antonio is here with the answer “Learn The Basics First”.
Your second question would be “Where?”. You can find yoga studios all over the map it's just a question of convenience. I mean do you have time to learn from the Yogis in Rishikesh, India or would you prefer learning from a teacher locally? In my opinion, both options are great but its just a matter of time and money.
Although I would suggest you do a Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh cause you will gain two things from it.
  1. You will learn yoga the traditional way.
  2. You will have some time off from your busy schedule which is really good for your mental health
The choice is yours. I am putting down a link to a really good yoga school in Rishikesh. I did my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training here before I moved to Bali. You can check the school’s website and contact them if you want to know more or just comment on this post and I will answer it.
